We are Counselors, Coaches, Teachers, working, living, shopping in our community and we are noticing a dismal change taking place in our youth today. As a result, we want to help the children through positive, fun intervention and… Mission Outlet.

MISSION STATEMENT

Mission Outlet is A Non-Profit Organization Established to find Creative ways to help the children in our community become intelligent, productive citizens so they can help themselves reach their Full Potential.

FACT

Today, more then ever, kids are headed down the wrong road. Over 68 percent of state prison inmates are High School Dropouts. Nationally, High School dropouts earn half of what they could have earned, had they earned a High School Diploma!

Mission Outlet Objectives:

Our Mission is to Help the childrem make a better life for themselves and have fun in the process!  Our objective is to help Children overcome their difficult challenges. We believe that a child needs to be able to escape their surroundings from time to time and discover their true self. Maybe then, they can overcome whatever is holding them back and be able to move forward with their lives. 

The Mission Outlet Way:

Mission Outlet has created a safe outlet for children who need undivided attention and understanding.  We specialize in taking “At Risk” children out of their current situation for a couple of hours a week and show them something positive and fun! We specifically do this, because we care about and want to help develop successful and happy children. 

Education Is The Key:

Mission Outlet knows the children today are the future and need to be properly guided.   Mission Outlet encourages the children to get a good Education and motivate them to always strive to do well. We stress that education is the key to unlock any door. In doing so, we provide Academic Support and Enrichment Programs with efforts to improve every child’s Academic Performance. We believe and strive to accentuate the positive. Our goal is to teach basic life lessons such as: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”…There is nothing wrong with doing the right thing! And you are your brother’s keeper!

Love Is Essential

We at Mission Outlet truly believe Love is Essential and is needed!  We also belive that the children need to know someone cares about them. We let the children know they are people of importance and they too, are loved.  

The Echo Effect:

Mission Outlet has found it truly amazing that sometimes it’s easier for someone like a friend or a GANG member, to relate to a child rather than a parent. We call this the "Echo Effect" it is when the child grows tired of hearing the same parent voice over and over to the point that it just becomes redundant. As a result, the child stops responding and mentally shuts down. Children are so vulnerable during the teen years they need as much positive reinforcement as possible, they can go either way. We want them to go the best way . . . The Mission Outlet Way . . .

It Takes A Village:

Mission Outlet knows it does take a Village to raise a child. Especially, children who are at Risk. Mission Outlet knows it takes a community effort to raise a child. We realize that it can be difficult for families, especially single parents, to raise a child alone. We are ready, willing and able to assist with those types of needs.

Mission Outlet is very familiar with the Problems our kids are facing everyday. We see it on the news, in the schools, parks and on the streets of the City. We help children deal with problems such as: Peer pressure, poverty, homelessness and other issues that may come from today’s society. One of our biggest missions at Mission Outlet is to teach and help develop good social skills and strive to rise above the negativity.

Our Goal is to help children overcome bad situations and become productive citizens. We achieve this thru Education, Counseling, Anger Management and other sources available. These tools, we believe will help the children deal with pressure and other issues they may confront in their early years.  

       Alternative:          

Mission Outlet Provides an Alternative Fun way of teaching life skills for our young children. We maintain a supervised outlet that will help children become better decisions makers and mature responsible adults and have Fun at the same time.

Hands On Interaction:

• ·         Children are temporarily removed from negative distractions. This makes it easier for them to stay focus on what’s important in their lives and to see their future more clearly and have fun!

• ·         Children can see and understand that they are not alone with their problems. They get a chance to hangout and have fun with others their same age and with the same issues.

• ·         Teaching in a group setting is always a good idea. Understanding and positive interaction is achieved better this way.

• ·         Coaching and showing a kid how to play sports is a major attraction for the children. Parents and Teachers biggest challenge is getting and keeping the child’s attention. We have discovered at Mission Outlet going the extra mile to capture and maintain the child’s attention is key in the rehabilitation of a child’s behavior.

• ·         Exposure to various institutions such as: Museums, Historical sites and a variety of other activities are important to a child’s growth. Mission Outlet believes that just the exposure to these type of institutions, can make dreams into a realty.

• ·         Interaction and Communication is very important for a child. All children need to interact and communicate their likes and dislikes. Mission Outlet has created many outlets and activities for children to learn good interaction and communication skills.

• ·         We believe in verbally correcting negative behavior, rewarding positive behavior and having FUN! FUN! FUN!
